Video Transcript for Review of Maxxair RV Vents and Fans - Enclosed Trailer Parts - MA10A21275K

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the replacement printed circuit boards for your max air powered lift RV roof vents. As you can see, we've got two different boards here. These are the part numbers that you see on the screen there. Essentially, these are exactly the same thing with one small difference between them.

If you look at the circuit board, you can see they have almost all of the same components except this large black box here. This is actually going to allow you to work. Allows this board to work for your max air vents that are both exhaust and intake. So this other one that does not have that box is only going to work with your max air fans that are exhaust only. If your unit is able to bring air in as well as exhaust it out, you're going to need this one over here.If your unit is only capable of exhausting the air from inside your RV, this is the unit that you will need here.

Keep those part numbers up there for you to make sure that you are getting the right one. It's a pretty slight difference between them, but obviously it's going to have a big impact on their usability. We want to make sure that you're getting the product that you need, so just wanting to clear that up for you. Both of them are going to work with your max air power. It's just that functionality difference that you need to look out for.

We're going to make sure that you knew the difference and are going to get the right chip that is going to work for you. That is going to complete our look at the max air replacement printed circuit board. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

The part I had ordered would not work and I contacted Etrailer. I discussed the problem with Jill and I had also sent pictures. Jill returned my call after talking with other technicians and provided me the documentation to return the part. Thanks Jill for your concern and time to secure the right part.

Hey Charles! I wanted Jill to be able to see your review so I sent it to her and she actually has a response for you: Thank you Chuck for the great review I appreciate it. I am always here to help in anyway I can. If there is anything I can do in the future feel free to reach out!

Part was returned.

by:

Easily changed with minimal time and expertise. Allows standard single directional exhaust fan to be modified to the multi directional fan with the added expense of a complete replacement. As always, etrailer comes through with the right part the first time!

by:

Our Maxx fan still does not respond properly to commands from the remote.

by:

It’s been a few weeks of having the fan running off a lithium battery in a camper van, so it appears the new circuit boards have solved the problem of running on higher than 13 volts, which is common with lithium batteries. The sensor for the remote was bent a little bit from shipping and handling, but so far the remote is working, I did carefully adjust the sensor a little bit when installing. So far happy with this purchase

by:

Vent lids were a perfect fit. The rain sensors was easily installed, and worked properly. I ended not needing the PCB, but could tell it was an exact replacement for the original, and the return process was very smooth and easy. Would recommend all three parts

by:

Maxxair parts in particular and Maxxair parts in general are junk. None of the parts I replaced on this fan ever worked for more than a few months. I replaced the entire fan with a European one that seems to actually work. I installed it 3 months ago and that is the longest a fan has worked reliably in my RV.

by:

Easy install once i got the correct part, my fault, turns out there are 5 controller cards

by:

So far so good. I used a spray on conformal coat before installing the board. Be careful to cover the connections with some painter's tape first. Installation is simple and the fan works as designed again. It was starting by itself before swapping out the board. Now it only starts when I want it to start.

by:

Pleasure doing business with etrailer

by:

Product is as advertised. Only concern is that one of the components (yellow square piece, see photo) on the control board looks to be bent over as a result of the shipping process in soft materials. I have straightened it out by hand and am hoping everything works once installed. Otherwise clear communication and great customer service.

by:

Months after installing new circuit board, following all instructions to a tee, the fan developed a mind of its own. The cover would open and close on its own, a constant chirping sound is emitted from the circuit board. Even depressing the forward/reverse button on the remote would cause the fan to turn off or close the cover or both. The remote has fresh batteries and the fan has never suffered any trauma such as an impact or any type of flooding. I haven’t orderered another as to avoid spending good money for an inferior product.

by:

Factory OE replacement at a fair price. Great customer service!

by:

After we figured out what the problem with our MaxxFan was, we ordered the part and it arrived soon after ordering. We installed the new circuit board and that cleared up our problem.

A year ago I contacted Maxxair about a problem with my rv roof fan that I purchased about five years ago and is out of warranty. After explaining my problem they sent me a new fan motor which ended up fixing all the problems I had with the fan. I just walked out to check and the fan works perfectly. I highly recommend Maxxair.

@Charles I'm glad to hear that Charles!

by:

Answers to my questions via chat were very prompt.
My order arrived quickly.
I've installed it and everything is working as expected.

by:

I bought the board with the intention of fixing my fan. I had a lot of trouble trying to get it to work.I called the Representative and they told me they couldn't help me but gave me a phone number to call. I called the service tech. And he told me what to did still no result. I ended up bring the camper to the dealer.
And the and they ended up installing a brand new fan. The whole unit. Final bust was over five hundred dollars. This was not.
A good Experience. I hope the new one is trouble free.

by:

Still going strong one year later! Etrailer is one of the premier places for RV / Towing / Truck equip out there without a doubt!

by:

Identified correct part number and shipped very quickly.

by:

The replacement part solved my issue. What else can I say. It was an easy install.

I easily replaced the bad board and my unit runs like it was brand new. I have since traded my travel trailer in that had this Maxxair fan. I have a new Grand Design Imagine without this fan. When I am ready, I will be purchasing this fan to put above the bed.

by:

the original board was damaged by water intrusion. (Odd that the other unit is still OK) It has been functioning fine ever since.

by:

Direct replacement for my Maxxfan 7500k reversible fan. My fan output mode stopped working and would only pull inward. Motor was replaced last year.

by:

Great part and even better customer ser vice.

by:

Came as expected. Fast and well packaged.
Was easy it install.

Carol;
Thank you for the prompt email
regarding the circuit board replacement for my MaxxAir Roof Vent. I must say that etrailer customer service has been fantastic with regards to this item. I completely understand that the lengthy delay in obtaining the item was the fault of MaxxAir and not etrailer. Your customer service regularly kept me informed of the manufacturer's shipping progress and it was very much appreciated. Anytime in the past I have ordered from etrailer I have received excellent service and this time was no exception. Thank you and your team again for the outstanding customer service.
Sincerely,
Roman

I am NOT a happy camper! MAXXAIR roof vents are a piece of crap. Three times now I have had to replace the circuit boards and they still do not work. Correction, they work for a short while then stop. E trailer experts were great, you put me in direct contact with Maxxair and they were helpful but their productcircuit boards are simply crap. From the looks of the large number of similar complaints. I am not the only persons complaining. I would NEVER RECOMEND MAXXAIR to anyone.

by:

Great part and great service.

by:

I ended up replacing this board after I had replaced the fan lift motor and the gear operator mechanism. Should have started with the board. It was the board all along. Too lazy to get the voltage meter out. This exercise got the entire fan cleaned out and ready for next adventures.

Your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-04000K could be cutting off after 10 seconds for the following reasons: 1. Insufficient or fluctuating power. Your fan could be receiving less than 12v of power. Check the power wire at the unit using a multimeter like # PT89ZR. If you aren't receiving 12v then you could have a voltage drop off due to the length of the wire running from the battery to the fan and would just need to increase the...

Since the remote works we know the board isn't totally shot. I'm guessing it is the wiring for the control switch. All you can really do is check that wiring to make sure it is secure and no corrosion is present at both ends. It sounds like a problem with the Circuit Board # MA10A21275K on your MaxxAir Roof Vent # MA00-04500K. I recommend using a Multimeter # PT89ZR to test voltage coming out of the circuit board going to the fan to verify the issue is not also with the Motor # MA10-20968. If you do not have a multimeter you could also switch the terminals around to see if the fan doesn't want to spin on the intake direction which would verify the issue is with the circuit board.
